Paddle Boarding with Angels

My day was quite set, I was headed for the gym,

With the mindset to lift weights, to get vigor and vim.

But then a friend called, and asked if I would join her,

Paddle boarding on a lake, in the midst of warm summer.

I was hesitant at first because it was oh so spontaneous,

But boy was it tempting, the thrill of new adventure.

To be surrounded by nature, to chase the full moon,

To be in the lake, an invitation I did not expect soon.

So, the hell with my plans! Instead, I packed anew,

Get ready to get wet, get ready to follow cues.

For it was my first time to ever paddle board,

A rare adventure, I thought I could never afford.

Joined by four friends, I was the only newbie,

The only one in life vest, to ease my nervousness, maybe.

Behind my close friend, I sat on the board,

And lo and behold, we were left with no words.

With the first paddle of our oar, a white feather was on our side,

Beautiful and shimmering, confirming it was our guide.

Watched by my angels, my friend knew that about me,

No matter where I go, white feathers I often see.

My angels must have known I was nervous for my first ride,

The sight of a white feather would give me peace of mind.

As we paddled even more, white feathers surrounded us,

Calming me completely, my nervous mind no longer fussed.

Balancing on the board on the beautiful Sammamish Lake,

Meditating in the calm waters, leaving us in a dream state.

Totally dumbfounded that my angels went all out,

Surrounding us with magic and divine protection, no doubt.

White feather after white feather in the calm, peaceful water,

Our legs down the board as we admire the perfect weather.

Cool breezy wind with the warm sun on our faces,

In my heart and in my soul, I was full of praises!

Chasing the full moon, we stayed way after dusk,

Appreciating the experience, my happiness unmasked.

The spontaneity that I took was magical at best,

Body, mind, and spirit integrated and at rest.
