She

Reflection, Mixed Medium, 11 X 14

Quiet and reserved, she looks so put together,

Calm and collected, any storm she can weather.

Brave warrior at best when trial's approach,

Little do others know, she is her own coach.

A mother, a daughter, sister, friend, and niece,

The many hats she wears, it never decreases.

An advocate, an artist, a writer, a teacher,

An organizer, a nurse, cook, maid and chauffer.

Responsibilities pile, yet she juggles her role,

Do the best that she can, that is her main goal.

Trusting that life is very much on her side,

Despite the challenges, she willingly goes for the ride.

The many layers she wears, needs some peeling to show,

Underneath the surface, who is she deep down below?

Is she willing to reveal the beauty of her soul?

Is she willing to admit, she is not always in control?

She cries in the shower where no one can see her in tears,

She hides in the darkness in order to face her fears.

She wipes away the tears after acknowledging her pain,

Then picks up the pieces, so she can dance again in the rain.

She breathes in deep and breathes out a little deeper,

Realizing that she is her very own peacekeeper.

Coaching herself to rise above adversity,

Earning wisdom from this life's complexity.

Wounds of the past may have broken her heart,

But transmuting the pain allows healing to take part.

Broken in pieces, at the seams has been torn,

Working on herself, aiming to be stronger, to be reborn.

She reaches out to her soul by writing her own thoughts,

Keeping still in meditation for messages to come across.

Painting the visions from her mind, from her dreams,

Creativity abounds like a continuous flowing stream.

She is me, she is you, she is he,

She is us, she is they, she is she,

We all wear the many hats, and play the part we must,

Smile and show up, even if life feel like a continuous bust.

The many layers we have, we need to peel to truly see,

Accepting we are worthy is truly the most important key.

We are more than the many labels and the roles that we play,

There is more beauty and significance than what we ever display.
