Forgive

How forgiving are we, we must ask ourselves this question?

Can we really let go? Can we forgive our own indiscretions?

Can we truly forget once we have forgiven?

Or will we find our busy minds still imprisoned?

Where can we find compassion for those who have wronged us?

Filled with unanswered questions because they simply won't discuss.

When they left us empty-handed, when they left us for someone,

Left us broken into pieces; completely lost, with no one.

Broken vows and promises cannot be unbroken,

Rejections and hurtful words can never be unspoken.

But time heals all wounds, at least that's what they say.

Choosing to forgive, how willing are we to pave the way?

Justifying our resentments will only bring us grief,

Blaming everyone around, contentment, quite brief.

Reliving the past, feeling hurt in the now,

Caressing our egos, finding soothe as we bow.

Prayers will never help if we keep talking without listening,

Pouring our hearts above, while actions are condescending.

Can we ever go beyond our very own consciousness?

Or do we face life head on, creating our own hypothesis?

We do what we think is right for us in the moment,

Regardless of the mistake, we act like true proponents.

We must realize, we are all on the same boat,

Living life, the best we can, trying to stay afloat.

Forgive others, forgive ourselves, we must let go of the past,

Learn to forgive all relationships that somehow did not last.

We all make mistakes, after all we're only human,

But learning to forgive, won't make us less than.

Condoning the sins that's not what we were meant to do,

But choosing peace and serenity, we can start our lives anew.

To heal our deep-seated wounds, forgiveness is the key,

Transmuting painful feelings, as it clears all the debris.

Reliving our past is a torture we must let go,

For all it does is block our energies' flow.

Take on the lessons as we spread our growing wings,

As we practice detachment, free the soul as it sings.

Earth angels we can be when we harness pure compassion,

When we allow our broken hearts to heal in the right fashion.

Letting go of our egos, no longer proving to be right,

Realizing that our life in this earth is truly finite.

Heal our agonies and resentments, fix what we must,

For we shall not carry that burden as we turn into dust.
